Yvonne Patel (she/her) is a trans person of colour, a first generation settler & multidisciplinary artist who draws inspiration from various forms of transitions found in nature, identity, language and culture. They co-create from perceptions and lived experiences, expressing them through poetry, performance, writing, textile, painting, and sketching. When speaking about artistic creation, they prefer using the pronouns we/they, to acknowledge that in every creation there is her participation and the undeniable participation of the other which is represented by the world all its life, beauty and phenomena.

Passionate about languages and art from a young age, and after careful reflection during the pandemic, Yvonne decided to move to Tiohtià:ke in 2022 to fulfill her childhood desires of speaking French and developing their artistic practice. Yvonne is a cultural worker and her previous professional experience spans the fields of culture, information technology, education, hospitality, and event management
